Quick & easy are the two things that I rate my nail polishes on. I’m always finding myself having to go somewhere as soon as I’m done painting my nails. So I’m usually fully-dependent on how fast my nails dry to determine when I can leave the house. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty impatient and I’m not one to really wait until my nails are 100% dry so I can get started on whatever I have to run out the door for. I’ve tried multiple fast-drying top coats and none of them have really dried fast enough. Even when they did, I wouldn’t get the finish that I was looking for. Finally, after many failed attempts at finding the right top coat, I found exactly what I was looking for. Keep reading for my review on the Essie Gel Couture and why it’s my current nail favorite!
Today is just one of those days where last minute errands need to be done and I’m finding myself with only 10 minutes to quickly brush my hair, put a little bit of makeup and run out the door. I’ve always been one to literally make the time to look decent even on trips to the grocery store. In my world, the saying: “you never know who you’re going to bump into”, is always one that I have lived by. I don’t necessarily go full-face glam with color correcting or baking, but I moreso prioritize my brows, lashes and lips. My eye makeup routine has always been primer, shadow, liner and finally mascara. From what used to be a whole 20 minutes spent on my eyes, it now take 5-8 minutes to get a beautiful eye look after visiting Amazing Lash Studio-Atascosita. I always played around with the thought of getting lash extensions, but considering how big of a financial commitment it would be, I always second guessed it when I was ready to pull the trigger. Thanks to Amazing Lash Studio, I finally got to experience this amazing lash makeover that beauty aficionados swear by! Keep reading to get a full scope of my first lash extension experience.
This summer was a season of discovery. In the past, I used to just accept my oily skin for what it was and tried to bear with it throughout the hot, humid summer days. This year, I decided to put that lazy habit behind me and start investing in a couple of products that have changed the way and what I wear on my face during the summer. I made some pretty sweet discoveries along the way and have found some of the most amazing gems at Sephora and the drugstore. I’m super happy with my roundup of go-to products for the summer as they’re probably going to become some of my most necessary staples in my regular routine for the remainder of the year. A few days ago I received my April Ipsy Glam Bag and was seriously impressed by the products, which wasn’t always the case. Back in January, I decided to renew my Glam Bag because it was around the time when I began revamping my blog. I had the subscription previously, but I was honestly never impressed. I had a few hits here and there, but it wasn’t enough to justify spending $10 every month (especially considering I was on my college budget at the time). However, these past few months have been getting better and better in quality and value. Here are some of my first impressions after a couple of days of trying out these products.
Crown Brush (C427 Duo Fiber Blush Brush). This product was probably one of the ones I was the most excited about. It’s extremely soft and considering how light it feels, it picked quite a bit of product and applied beautifully on my cheeks. I recently bought Wet N’ Wild’s Color Icon Blush in Rose Champagne and this brush made the application so seamless that it didn’t feel like I had to be super careful about overdoing it.
Starlooks Cream Eyeshadow (Rose Gold). One of the biggest goals I had this year was to go out of my comfort zone and start trying makeup that’s outside of the typical eyeshadow powder formula. I had used a few paint pots before, but I was still curious on trying cream eyeshadows. Part of me expected this product to be exactly like my holy grail Rubenesque, but this was definitely a formula of it’s own. At first application, the product looked beautiful because the entirety of the swatch wasn’t blended out and all of the color and metallic finish of it was intact. However, I was disappointed afterwards when I began applying the product as I typically would with a paint pot. As I started patting it on my eyelid, it became super patchy and the areas where it dried just felt very heavy (photo above shows initial application on the left and blended out on the right). The color was beautiful, but I was really hoping the formula would match it’s looks. I’ll be playing around with it more this month, so stay tuned on any updates!
Tarte LipSurgence Lip Crème (Wonder). Seriously, how beautiful is this shade?! I have quite a few red and pinky red lipsticks in my collection, but nothing matches this shade at all! It’s the perfect color for spring and summer and this is definitely one of the smoothest and long-wearing lip crayons that I own. I wasn’t sure what it was but when I first applied it, my lips looked incredibly smooth and the formula overall just felt really light. It’s the type of lip color that you forget you’re wearing until you’re halfway done downing the chips and guac (ha!). Also, huge bonus points to Tarte for making this sample still twist more product out. Am I already in love? Yes. Will I actually buy the full size? YES!
MoroccanOil Treatment. This product I have actually already owned the full-size of and I love it! It doesn’t have a chemical smell, if anything it smells really good and light. It doesn’t leave any residue or make your hair greasy after a few days. As a girl with thick, wavy hair, this product was a lifesaver when it came down to using it before styling it. I usually just straighten my hair and this amped up the silkiness and overall made my hair feel so much healthier over time. Definitely recommend!
Jor’el Parker Fango Facemask. Unfortunately I was only able to try this product once because my acne recently cleared up and being super paranoid, I decided to not mess with my skin so much and give this another try later this month. The smell was ok, it smelled like your typical mud mask (kinda musky, but sweet depending on the oils added in). It dried down pretty quickly, which I didn’t mind because it was thick enough that I wouldn’t have to go over one spot again just to fully cover it. Once I rinsed it off with warm water, my face felt extremely clean and refreshed the next morning. As I mentioned, I’ll definitely give this a go a few more times before I give it a full review later, but as far as first impressions went… I’m not scared that it’ll damage my sensitive skin.
Needless to say, that I really enjoyed my April Ipsy Glam Bag. I’m definitely planning on sticking with the subscription and letting you all know my initial thoughts and final reviews on these products in the future! Did you get any of these in you glam bag this month? Let me know what you think! Until next time ✨
