Wet N Wild Spring 2017 | Review + Swatches

I’m baaaaaaack! I can’t believe that literally in the past 3 weeks and during the midst of the holiday madness, I finally moved to Austin, TX! I’m finally all settled in and incredibly relieved that I don’t have anything pressing constantly on my to-do lists. In the meantime, I’ve been trying some new drugstore goodies that are out for the spring season. One of the most anticipated products that I was looking forward to was the Wet N Wild Photofocus Foundation. Having already tried their primer from the Photofocus line and loving it, I was eager to get my hands on this baby. As soon as I settled into my new home, I grabbed my keys and drove to the nearest Walgreens in hopes that they would have my shade. Keep reading for more on what I picked up from the Wet N Wild Spring 2017 launches!

Of course, like any other trip to the drugstore, I came for one thing and walked out with a bag full of makeup. One of the brands I hit gold on was Wet N Wild! They had everything from their new cushion bronzers/highlighters, gel lip liners, dual-ended contour and highlight sticks and of course, the Photofocus foundation. From what was available, I picked up the products that I knew I could use on a daily basis. While I didn’t pick up the cushion products (my skin isn’t the biggest fan of cushion products), I did hear a ton of good things about their coloring and formula. Before I get to the superstar of the bunch, here’s a few other products I picked up and my thoughts on them.

Ahhh, 2016 was the year that “baking” took a whole other meaning. Ever since, I’ve been constantly on the hunt for the perfect contour and highlight to bake with. As I keep experimenting, I started exploring “cream” products praying that it wouldn’t be too much for my oily skin. I’ve tried a few hits and misses, but Wet N Wild’s new Megaglo Dual-Ended Contour Stick is definitely a big hit. The color is a good balance between an ashy brown with some warmth to still give your face some life. The highlight end is an off-white that while it worked for me, it may not work with darker skin tones because it’s a little bit on the stark side. The formula all in all is fool-proof. It’s so buildable and blendable that any beginner will find it easy to work with at first swipe. So whether you’re looking for a more natural contour or an intense look, the formula is perfect for both.

Next up, I picked up both their MegaSlim eyeliner and skinny mascara. On days where I just want to line my lid without a cat eye, this eyeliner is perfect because of how skinny the felt tip is and how close I can get to the upper lash line. Even though it’s not waterproof, the formula lasted through an 8-hour day without much fading. Would I buy again? Probably not because after 2 weeks of owning it, I’m already starting to notice it drying out. Although it’s not expensive, I have a lot of other eyeliners in my collection that I would feel better about repurchasing.

The Skinny Mascara on the other hand was definitely a hit. I specifically use it for my bottom lashes because it’s  so skinny that it really gets in there without clumping them up. It’s super black so I didn’t have to go past one coat and the bristles are perfect to get even the smallest inner-rim lashes.

If you’re on the market for new lippies, you have to pick up both the Perfect Pout gel lip balm and lip liner. The gel consistencies in both of these products are a dream because they’re literally both pigmented and moisturizing, but yet long-lasting. The balm can either give you a nice flush of color or if you build it up, a nice even finish of pink. The lipliner is super easy to work with because of how creamy it is and it’s retractable packaging makes it perfect to take on the go. Both of these lippies didn’t bleed throughout the day either!

I’m so excited to finally tell you all about the foundation that I’ve been trying out for 2 weeks now! Houston and Austin went through another hot then suddenly cold weather change while I was testing it out and needless to say that I’m shocked. It did not oxidize, nor break up during the day. From 6- 12 hour days, the formula of this foundation came through with only very little touching up. Above, you can get a good idea of how well the foundation blends out with a damp beauty sponge and it’s consistency. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fact that it didn’t have a matte finish. It had a small dewy finish, yet the coverage was on par with my usual L’Oreal Infallible. Overall this foundation has just the right amount of coverage (that’s also buildable!) and lasting power that’s perfect even for oily skin. Below you can also see how glowy (not oily) this foundation looks right after application!

Best part about this entire Wet N Wild haul? Everything was under $7! You just can’t beat the price point and quality of it all. Again, I’m so happy to finally be back and all settled into my new home. If you would want me to pick up and test anything from the drugstore, what would it be?
